OUR SCHOOL’S
SEND Aims
At St. Michael’s Community Academy, we have a strong commitment to supporting all children to enable them to achieve at school. This is done primarily through Quality First teaching in the classroom but, in some cases, it may benefit our children to access further help and support in order to overcome a barrier to learning. This will be done through a graduated approach, being initiated by the class teacher, and supported by the school SENDCO and, where appropriate, by external specialists.

INCLUSION QUALITY MARK
Centre of Excellence
We are proud to report that we were awarded Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence status in July 2021 in recognition of the inclusive ethos that is reflected across our school. In July 2022 we were recognised as a centre of excellence, and we will be expected to contribute to the development of inclusive practice across the North West region, and to offer support and guidance to other schools in their own journey. Our Centre of Excellence status was renewed after the IQM team visited school to complete an audit in June 2023.
